Photographer Highlight: Richard Harris
UK-born and Australian-trained, Richard Harris is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer who studied at Melbourne’s VCA and RMIT schools.
His photographic work is mainly travel and studio-based, with an emphasis on portraits, architecture and the street. The images presented here were taken during a four-week assignment in Tanzania for the Zanzibar Schools Project (Jan 2017) and an ongoing studio project (2016/2017) using life-size mannequins to explore personal, cultural and religious freedom.
Richard’s work has been described by LensCulture as “powerful” and "rich with possibilities" and received Honourable Mentions in the 2016 Moscow, Tokyo and International Foto Awards. His next exhibition will be at Melbourne’s prestigious Manningham gallery, April/May 2017.
